Clare's School Makeup Routine!

My School Makeup Routine

Hi again, so many people have been asking me about my school make-up routine, so here it is!

Firstly I apply The Body Shop Soothing Day Cream for Sensitive Skin to moisturize and prevent my skin from becoming dry during the long day of school.

I then prime my skin with the L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer to make my makeup last all day. 0

Using the Revlon Colorstay Concealer I cover my dark circles and if on the day I feel I need more coverage I use Rimmel London Matte BB cream.

To fill my eyebrows in I use the L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Brow Artist.

I use the Natural Collection Eye Lines pencil in white to look more awake, for mascara I use Maybelline New York The Rocket Volume Express.

For lips I use Vaseline tinted lip balm in Rose and I use the Natural Collection blush to add colour to my face.

Hope you like it!

Love Clare x

Our Clare's favourite products!

Favourite Products and My Style of Going Out Makeup

Hello everyone, i hope you are all well!
My style of going out makeup at the moment is inspired by the gorgeous Kylie Jenner. I love her long lashes and full lips. Sometimes I do a dramatic eye makeup look for going out but I do prefer a simple matt brown smokey eye. I outline my lips with a nude lip pencil and fill in with a matching lipstick. I then apply a pair of fake lashes which helps pull any make up look together.
My top three favourite makeup products at the moment are the Urban Decay Naked Palette, L’Oreal True Match Foundation and Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara. The Naked Palette has 12 matt and shimmery shadows. They have beautiful pigmentation and are so smooth and easy to apply. This palette can be used for day and night. I think that it is great for people who have just started experimenting with makeup.
Another foundation I am loving at the moment is the L’Oreal True Match Foundation. It has a low to medium coverage and is easily buildable. It is easy to apply and affordable. The Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara is great for lengthening lashes. It lasts very long and doesn’t clump.
Lots of love Clare x

Be Consistant! - This weeks hair tip!

This week our hair expert Shauna Penney tells us why you should give your hairdresser a chance!

So today folks I shall be taking about consistency!
Why?? Because we all need it in our lives!
Why?? Because we do!
So let me explain:  Lady goes to hair expert likes hair but for some reason decides to go somewhere else,  cause lets say at a guess her friends go there too. She spends the next six months going to a load of other places but can't seem to get the same cut. Now I know some of you don't need me to explain this tale but just for fun I will!

We cannot do a great job normally with one go, if it's our first time laying our hands on your hair it's going to take maybe another cut/colour for us to get the feel of it.

So the moral of this tale is to stick with the expert for maybe just a little bit and let the magic develop.
Joy!

Forever Fabulous Intern Clare Dolan - First Blog Review!

Firstly I would like to introduce you all to the new Forever Fabulous Intern: Clare Dolan.
Clare is a Transition Year student at Holy Child Secondary School, Killiney, Co. Dublin.

Clare is very interested in makeup and the industry and wants to learn more, she will be assisting myself and the Pro Team on our various makeup jobs and photo-shoots over the coming year as part of her work experience.  Clare will also be reviewing some of her favourite products.

I am delighted to have Clare as part of the Forever Fabulous team and look forward to sharing her blog posts and experiences over the next few months.

Revlon Colorstay 24hr Foundation

My favourite foundation at the moment proves you don’t need a big budget to achieve a flawless airbrushed look. It is the well-known Revlon Colorstay 24hrs Foundation.

There are two types of this foundation. One is for combination/oily skin and the other is for normal/dry skin. It is very long lasting and has a large colour selection with a very affordable price of just €17.79. Although I have normal to dry skin, I use the combination to oily skin. It has more of a yellow undertone which suits my skin better than the normal to dry skin which has red undertones.
Using a beauty blender or buff brush I blend it well into my skin, leaving a streak-free airbrushed look.

I would highly recommend this product to people who want a medium to full coverage foundation.

Love Clare x

To Wash or not to wash?!!

This week our resident hair guru Shauna tells us what she thinks about clean hair!!

Ok so today I shall be writing about clean hair.... To have or not to have??
Seriously is that even up for debate?  Hmm let me see will I wash my hair or not??

Wash wash wash!!

It is a total urban myth that you can't wash your hair everyday, would you only cleanse and moisturise you face twice a week? I don't think so!

Well you should treat your hair like your face once you've been advised by the expert (and I don't mean in the supermarket aisle) you can wash away to your hearts content! So talk to your hair expert and find the right combination of shampoo and conditioner and you shall have wonderful clean shiny hair. Joy!!

DIY Hair Colouring!

DIY Hair Colouring!

Our lovely resident hair expert Shauna Penney tells us what she thinks of home hair colouring!

To home colour or not to home colour? What to do?... Hmmmm ... Nothing, DO NOT DO IT!

A cheap box of hair colour, what a great idea! My hair will be fabulous and it will not cost me much. Then what happens? A few days later you go and pay the expert a few hundred quid to fix it!  Brilliant plan!

You see the thing is one box of home hair colour is universal, so say you have 30% ,40% or 75%. grey hair? How is that magic little box going to know this about your hair? Yup you guessed it, it doesn't!

But guess what we experts do... leave the magic to us!

So the moral of this sorry hair tale is just get the expert to do it and I promise you will be happy!

Love for now,
Shauna xxx

Be Beautiful @ Head Dalkey!

             Make Me Beautiful!

Shauna Penney our resident hair expert shares a lovely storey and gives us some vital tips to boot!!

A few years ago I had a lovely client and when she came into the salon and I asked her how she wanted her hair done she would say "just make me beautiful!" So I would say; "Ok lady but what would you like me to do?" The reply was always; "Just beautiful!"

I used to think wow how clever, fantastic and what a great way to let the expert do their job!

That is the trick and that's what we hairdressers are here for! It is to make you look and feel beautiful not the reverse!

Another tip is to tell the expert what you do not like aswell.

So whether it's 'just beautiful' or anything else. All ya gotta do is ask!

Peace

My Top Bridal Make-Up Tips!

Bridal Make-Up Tips!
As a professional makeup artist the biggest part of my work is bridal makeup. One of the biggest parts of your wedding day is how you and your bridal party look. This is the one day that everyone is looking at you! Also remember all the photographs and the fact that you will be looking back at the photos and how you look for years to come.  Lots of brides do not think about their makeup and leave it to the last minute to book an artist or decide to do their own makeup. Here are my top tips for bridal makeup!

Book a makeup trial!

Many brides decide not to book a trial before their big day.  Remember every makeup artist is different and have their own unique style, if you are not happy with your makeup the day of your wedding it is a bit late to change your mind! Booking a makeup trial at least six months before your big day gives you the chance to create the perfect look for you and if you are not happy with the makeup artist you have time to look for another one. Your makeup artist should go though all your expectations for your look and guide you towards a look that suits you, your colour and theme of the day. I suggest saving images of different makeup looks that you love, create a pinterest folder of all your favourite looks and show them to your makeup artist.

Changing your normal makeup look!

Your wedding day is not the time to try our new makeup looks and change how you look completely.  Brides should look like themselves with all features enhanced to create an even more beautiful version of yourself,  if you do not wear dark eye shadow and heavy eye liner your big day is not the time to start.  If you want to turn your day look into a sexier night time makeup look ask your makeup artist to show you how to do this.  Adding a simple red lip and darker smokier eye for the evening reception is very easy and can turn your look from day to night.

False Eyelashes

If you are not used to wearing a full set of strip eyelashes, it is probably best not to try on your wedding day.  Trying out the day of your trial is a great way to see if you are comfortable and happy with how they make you look.  False lashes can transform your look completely.  Lot of brides opt for individual lashes, these create a natural pretty look and do not cause any discomfort.

Applying to much highlighter

Highlighter can be very deceiving and you may not notice how much you have applied until you see a photograph of yourself.  Highlighter reflects light and can look very shiny in natural sunlight. Every bride wants that beautiful glow! Only apply highlighter to cheekbones, bridge of your noise inner corner of your eyes. Mixing a small bit of liquid highlighter with your foundation can create a nice natural glow too. Stay away from applying to your forehead and upper lip or you will look oily and sweaty!

Too much blusher!

This is not the day to look like aunt sally! Bridal blush should be natural and healthy looking. Like pinks and corals are lovely, make sure to shake the excess product off your brush before applying.

 Use a primer

Primer will make your makeup stay all day and helps to smooth the surface of the skin and make it a perfect base for your foundation. A little goes a long way, pay more attention to your T-zone.

Eyebrows!

Make sure you book in for your eyebrow treatments like HD Brows, threading and waxing a good week before the big day, this gives your skin time to settle down and any reactions to clear up.  You should start thinking about your eyebrow maintenance a good six months before the big day and get them in tip top perfect shape.  Stay away from pencilling brows and opt for natural powers, they are less harsh. If you have fair hair having brows tinted is a great way to enhance them. Again eyebrows should complement and frame your face not be the main feature!

Spray Tan

This is a mine field! Your whole body needs to get preened and prepped not just your face.
Make sure to select a natural tan and not the colour you  may go for on a night out.  Remember tan looks much darker against white and pale coloured dresses. You should also have a practice run with your spray tan too.  Remember to exfoliate your body at least twice a week and use a really good body moisturiser paying special attention to elbows, knees, hands, feet and any dry areas you may have.

I would recommend going for a series of body polishing treatments in your favourite salon.  I would also stay clear of spraying your face, if this goes wrong it can look terrible. Your makeup artist can make sure your face matches your body! Ask your tanning specialist to spray a very light layer on hands and feet, you do not want to look like a mud monkey!!

Put together a touch-up kit for the day!

This is something so many brides forget on their big day.  Your face needs to stay picture perfect for hours and long into the night.  Putting together a basic touch-up kit and asking your bridesmaid's to mind this is a good idea.  You will need: Your Lipstick, pencil and or gloss, eyeliner, cotton buds, loose power or pressed compact power as the main basics of this kit.

Waterproof!

Make sure you use waterproof mascara and eyeliner, you may cry a lot! You should not have to worry about smudgy running black eyes! Carry a compact mirror in your clutch or makeup touch-up kit.

Bridesmaid Makeup

You need to stand out, after all this is your big day!  Your bridesmaid's should not have the same makeup look as you and should not be more dramatic.

Lipstick

If you opt for a bold lipstick look remember that this will need to be maintained all day, even the best lipsticks on the market loses staying power and you are going to be kissing and hugging lots of people.  Be prepared to check lips lots and carry your lipstick kit with you.  Another option is to go for a nice bold lip stain for the church and then change to a bold colour later on in the day.

SPF

Your wedding day is the one day you should not wear an SPF on your face. This can cause shiny oily look.  I would even stay clear of foundations with SPF included.

Practice makes perfect!

If you are going to create your own look remember to practice on the run up to the big day, making sure you have it down to a fine art!

I hope these tips help and if you would like more information or would like to find out about booking your bridal trial with me, please do not hesitate in contacting me.

Festival Hair Tips from Head Dalkey

Perfect Festival Hair

Shauna Penney the Forever Fabulous hair specialist and owner of Head Hair Salon Dalkey, Co. Dublin tells us how to keep your hair festival ready!

So let's talk festival hair!

We all want the boho sexy look but in a clean way!  Unfortunately that's not always possible if you are sleeping in a tent!  So here are my top tips!

1: If you can (which should be possible even in a tent) try to wash your fringe. It's amazing the difference this will make to the over all look

2: Dry shampoo! dry shampoo! dry shampoo! Spray that mother all over your hair. Don't be shy using it and shake it to bits afterwards!

3: Accessories are always good,  but remember you are not twelve years of age! So only use grown-up ones. No pig tails. Unless you really are twelve! Flower clips and flower hair bands look fabulous! (no nasty plastic ones though) Bandana's also work wonders while keeping you on trend!
- Claire's Accessories have some lovely festival head pieces in store right now!

If all else fails the safe messy ponytail with a couple of flowers shoved in for good measure will also do the trick!

Enjoy fabulous hair and the festival season!

JOHN FRIEDA new collection - Frizz Ease Unwind Curls Calming Creme!

I hope your all enjoying the summer and the lovely weather we have been having!
Curls are gorgeous this time of year so no better time for me to tell you about the new Unwind Curls Calming Creme from JOHN FRIEDA. Create perfect loose smooth curls and stand out from the crowd at all the music festivals this summer!

I am lucky that my hair styles anyway I like but this has taken me a few years to get the hang of!  Creating curls is now easy but somtimes they can be frizzy and messy.  Using a small amount of the product rub through damp hair, try not to get too much in to your roots as it can look greasy if too much product is used. I then dry my hair on a very low heat while shaking hair from the roots. I do not use a brush when I'm curling my hair.

Unwind Curls creates and tightens curls for a bouncy, salon smooth style that lasts all day. This product is designed for woman who want to relax their natural curls for a looser wave, the creme also unwinds curls creating length. My hair was left conditioned, soft and healthy looking while also minimising frizz.

I love this look as I do not have to blowdry and GHD my hair for ages, it's natural and good for my hair!

Let me know what you think! Love Forever Fabulous xxx

Holistic Healing by Ashlinn Molloy - My Pregnancy Massage

 Holistic Healing by Ashlinn Molloy

The word Holistic literally translates into ‘healing the mind, body and spirit’. So with all Holistic Therapies available you are not only working on muscle tension and physical ailments of the body but also relaxing the mind through various methods; including aromas, breathing and energy work all essentially allowing you to connect to yourself and spirit.

As I am 18 weeks into my pregnancy there are many beauty treatments and procedures that I cannot have.  This is very hard for me being a make-up artist, beauty junkie and obsessed with eternal youth!  Also due to quite a stressful work load and very sick in my early pregnancy I wanted a treatment that would relax my mind and my body!

Ashlinn Molloy has been trained as a Holistic Therapist since 2006 with her first experience of healing through the form of Reiki. Ashlinn has worked on many projects including victims of domestic violence, people with physical disabilities as well as severe arthritis and stroke victims.
I was delighted when Ashlinn invited me along for a special pregnancy massage called ‘Lomi Lomi’ this is a special hour long treatment. This helps to reduced swelling and oedema; the oils used help to prevent the appearance of those dreaded stretch marks. Above all this treatment relaxes Mummy and baby!

Ashlinn is very welcoming and put me at ease explaining what she was going to do. The atmosphere was truly lovely with scented candles burning and calming music playing. I drifted off to sleep a couple of times!  I left feeling relaxed, distressed and energised, my skin was radiant too.  I will be going back for more massages!!

I highly recommend a visit to Ashlinn, tell her Forever Fabulous sent you! xxx
